BACKGROUND

St. Joseph’s Health Care is a major provider of progressive mental health services, and its new state-of-the-art St. Thomas campus offered many opportunities and challenges for clear wayfinding.

Both patients, visitors, and staff may be experiencing stress while attempting to find their way; Forge recommended simple naming and a clean design in order to create a simple, low-stress wayfinding experience. We carefully positioned signage to be highly visible yet out of reach and damage-resistant to prevent vandalism and ensure patient safety.

At every stage, we coordinated our work with the architect and other stakeholders, reviewing the end result to ensure that it lived up to our vision for a stress-free wayfinding experience.
